Welcome

Overview

This is a website run by students to support all Computer Science Student Led Initiatives to help the Computer Science students (and others interested in Computer Science) have an amazing experience at Bath.

This wiki is here to help centralise our knowledge and experience in leading intiatives for students. It stores a wide range of information, primarily focused at leaders and committee members, however there is also information applicable to regular students. Feel free to read and share this, as it is publically available and can be passed around however you please.

Why was this necessary

As the number of initiatives have grown, there have been growing pains with each iniative stepping on the others’ toes a bit.

We are hoping this wiki will help improve communication and focus knowledge in one spot.

History

Hugo and Pal (students) were doing the regular thing Computer Scientists do in their free time: looking at what domains were available to buy. This is when they noticed bathcs.com was available to purchase.

“Holy smokes” they thought together when they realised the endless possibilities of this domain as both had interests in making wacky projects and using them for Student Led Initiatives: “We could actually make this official”.

A few minutes later and they had made the purchase of a lifetime, buying out the excellent domain which is bathcs.com and starting a journey which would fill them with joy.

They did not know if anyone would actually use it but only time would tell.

Looking to contribute

If you are student (or staff member) at Bath who just randomly came across this page, you can get some practice in running production level systems for free while helping others! Contact the current owners of the cs organisation on Bath’s GitLab.

We would love other people to join in on this exciting adventure and contribute! However do be warned due to the fact students are likely to be joining and leaving more regularly than other open source projects, we have a strict set of guidelines projects must meet.
